Albuquerque Security- Dumb Things A Former Manager Can Do #1

I have noticed, over the years, that managers that are planning to make an exit will exhibit certain traits and take certain predictable actions.  Albuquerque Security is nothing, if not predictable.  I imagine that other security company owners around the country have the same problems.  In fact, I think it would be a good idea to make a reality show of Albuquerque Security. (I am not kidding..) 

Managers have special access to information, the ability to be at the office when others are not there and they feel that they can take information without consequence and receive no blame.  

1. Former managers try to erase hard-drives on computers.  They think that this will cover up things they have done or logs for time that they have spent watching porn, playing video games, IM'ing with girlfriends or chatting on Face Book.  
2. Stealing Company employment files for themselves and their friends.  This has got to be one of the oldest stupid tricks in the book, yet they still try.  Fortunately, I have been through a number of bad employee break ups and make copies of all manager files to keep at my house.  I do this without their knowledge.  Former managers who do this are really stupid.  The ones who brag about it to others are especially dumb.
3. Attempt to cover-up or hide things that they have done wrong.  This is self explanatory.

Again, many of these things are predictable so smart company owners will put safeguards into place to stop the theft of information.  I recommend making police reports about the theft and if the former manager's actions go to hiding crimes then the crime of tampering with evidence is established.  Report these violations to the Regulation and Licensing Board.  Take statements and affidavits from witnesses and people who the bonehead managers have mentioned this information to.  Record conversations with people who give you information.  Hire someone to clean the computer hard drive, which isn't hard and costs less than $200.  Erasure programs or standard deletion of files can easily be over-written.  Figure out what was on the hard drives and take the appropriate actions with the information.  Anything illegal should go back to the cops and anything involving marital issues should go the the husband or wife..

This was a general topic to help security business owners avoid the hassles that I have been through.

 

Specifically- Perine- you are caught.  Your hard-drive is big analyzed now and yes, everything can be retrieved.  All of your recent activity is logged and it will all be sent where it needs to go.  You are an idiot for bragging that you stole your company file.  Witness statements obtained.  You are stupid for stealing other people's files when you thought they would go with you to your new company.  You talk too much and one loyal Summit employee in particular gave me a long statement about you.  Another, weaker one also gave a statement.  You talk too much and you tell people all of your business.  They tell me.  It is ALL coming out.. Danny Orozco was terminated today for violation of SOP, lying and violation of his non-compete agreement.  xxxxxxxxx xxxxxxx xxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxx wasn't a good idea.  Witness statement obtained.  (this is all fact. opinions contained therein)

I found it necessary to discover that Nick P. had a civil judgement for around $13,000. (fact)  People think you can't get blood from a turnip? (opinion)  I mean, Nick P is on SSI- he doesn't have any money..(opinion)  Nick's company is a sole proprietorship. (fact)  That means the income produced from the company is personal income and can go to satisfy judgments. (fact) I spoke to the attorney for the judgement creditor, Rio Grand Credit Union, and notified them of the debt that NARA Bank out of New York owes him, represented by a local Albuquerque attorney. (fact)  There are others who I think owe Nick P. money and they were all disclosed to this attorney. (fact)

"What's in it for me," asks the attorney..  I am happy to help people collect money and do a good thing for a credit union when I can.  I was just a guy minding my own business last week before all of this started happening.  Oh well, it happens..

Are You Being Stalked in Albuquerque? A Women’s Survival Guide- Part 1

I first noticed the use of the term stalking when I was a police officer in the 1990’s.  Stalking is an anomaly that seems to be derived from a person’s will to control another.  It has become a serious safety concern for people, especially women and seems to becoming a more serious threat that people recognize.  I have been approached by many stalking victims for help, both in the way of self-defense skill development, recognition/ awareness, vulnerability assessments, investigative services, counter/ anti- stalking activities or plain old protection from the people who would stalk my clients.

Stalking is a term commonly used to refer to unwanted, obsessive attention by individuals (and sometimes groups of people) to others. Stalking behaviors are related to harassment and intimidation. The word "stalking" is used, with some differing meanings, in psychology and psychiatry and also in some legal jurisdictions as a term for a criminal offense. It may also be used to refer to criminal offences or civil wrongs that include conduct which some people consider to be stalking, such as those described in law as "harassment" or similar terms.

In the United States last year, approximately 3.4 million victims reported being stalked.  These are some quick statistics on stalking:

• 3.4 million people over the age of 18 are stalked each year in the United States.
• 3 in 4 stalking victims are stalked by someone they know.
• 30% of stalking victims are stalked by a current or former intimate partner.
• 10% of stalking victims are stalked by a stranger.
• Persons aged 18-24 years experience the highest rate of stalking.
• 11% of stalking victims have been stalked for 5 years or more.
• 46% of stalking victims experience at least one unwanted contact per week.
• 1 in 4 victims report being stalked through the use of some form of technology (such as e-mail or instant messaging).
• 10% of victims report being monitored with global positioning systems (GPS), and 8% report being monitored through video or digital cameras, or listening devices.

Many victims of stalking have many negative ramifications of being stalked including loss of their employment.  Last year, 130,000 victims of stalking reported that they lost their jobs or were asked to leave their employment because of being stalked.  Of course, there are many other negative impacts of stalking for victims. 

I have noticed a rise in women who file for divorce being stalked.  This can present many problems for the victims on an ongoing basis.  Children are involved in many of the circumstances and women often resist their reactions to protect themselves in hopes of keeping a “normal” existence for their children.  The man often perpetrates certain actions and the woman acts like nothing is happening around her kids and when the man is present for custody exchange.  These situations present unique problems and require different solutions.

Generally, I recommend certain tactics to deal with stalking and turning the tables on the stalker to stop the criminal’s actions.  Safety of the victim is the first order of business.  The victim might know of actions that are being taken against her while in many cases she won’t know what is being done, based on the man’s attempts to hide the behavior and or using devices to track a victim’s patterns, actions or even recording them in their own home.

Recognition is the first step.   Man women write off their natural survival instincts as “being over cautious or being crazy.”  I like to say that a women’s intuition is perfect and they should always react when they feel something physically as opposed to think it.  If they have a physical reaction to a situation this is not normally a cognitive function that can be explained.  In the end, survival is a primal function and a women’s body is always sensing its environment to survive.  Certain situations or vulnerabilities will cause different responses or thoughts that I recommend that women turn into actual responses.

Below, I listed some potential problems associated with hiring an unlicensed and illegal "fake PI." - Your money or retainer fee could get stolen and you have no recourse - Everything you tell this person could be disclosed to anyone against your wishes - This information could be used against you - The results of the investigation could be false - If you hope to use any information obtained in a Court proceeding it will not be allowed because it is wrongfully obtained - You may be liable for the actions of this "fake PI" if he makes bad decisions - Fake PI's have no training and produce poor results - Fake PI's don't have access to the latest database records, tracking methods and high-tech products - Fake PI's hire low paid people to do their work and then the results are even worse It is essential that you verify licensing but more importantly you need to verify experience and dependability of the prospective investigator prior to giving out any information or paying any money. He prepared the following checklist for people thinking about hiring a PI: - verify state license - verify commercial general liability insurance (this protects you if he does something wrong) - verify specific experience in the area you wish to hire him (the PI business is very specialized) - verify training and law enforcement experience of the potential PI (most of us received our basic training in a police department) - verify stability of the PI (does he have an office, a staff and the equipment necessary?) - write down your objectives and what you hope to gain through the investigation and share this with him - ask to look at a sample of his investigative conclusion report (Can this guy write? A investigation is only as good as its report) - ask him if your objectives can be reached through his services - clarify your exceptions - set a definite timetable for events required and the conclusion of the investigation - get a cellular phone number for the PI and make sure he is available for your questions - communicate clearly, hold him to the time table and make sure to get a copy of your report and any other evidence - get a clear understanding of the costs, billing rates and estimated cost of the full investigation prior to paying anything If an investigation client follows the above checklist together with verifying licensing on any prospective company and person then they have a good chance to obtain their desired results. There are many good and qualified PI's and PI companies in New Mexico but there are more that are not licensed, illegal and are not legitimate. Be careful and choose your private investigator wisely.
