Is Ron Haley still employing guards? These guards think so..

Albuquerque, NM- August 28, 2009-  I thought Ron Haley's license was denied.  A guy sent me this video, investigation, etc. and the guards interviewed stated that they worked fro Ron Heley.  How could that happen?  They shared quite a bit more with state investigators and it is all being verified now.

These are the guys who were caught without guard cards, unregistered and not background checked by the state who stated that they worked for Ron Haley.  Apparently they were working at the movie set of Breaking Bad in Mesa del Sol last Friday night.  There were additional guards at Highland High School who were monitored.  Apparently, they didn't hardly speak English and their is even a question if they are in the US legally..

Hopefully, the state finally does something about this kind of illegal activity.  Albuquerque security consumers: don't hire guards who don't have license, training or background checks..  It is disappointing but the problem is that many security consumers don't care what they get as long as the bid is the cheapest..

Robb Hamic becomes certified as a Personal Defense Readiness (PDR) Coach under Tony Blauer

August 23, 2009- Virginia Beach, VA- Robb Hamic, President of Summit Self Defense attended Tony Blauer's Summer Camp and Personal Defense Readiness (PDR) Instructor certification at Blauer Tactical Headquarters. Mr. Hamic became an PDR Instructor under Tony Blauer, who is a martial arts and tactical training expert. Mr. Baluer invented the SPEAR and PDR systems for self defense. These techniques are taught to citizens, military and law enforcement.

It was a great fit with Summit Self Defense and its training curriculum. "I wanted something that I could teach to everyone regardless of their size or training experience. I heard that the SPEAR and PDR system was easy to learn and I was surprised that most people can defend themselves with this concept after only one repetition. It is truly unique," says Robb Hamic. Former 'Albuquerque security company owner' Bobby McMullin gets 13 years in one court case..

August 18, 2009- Albuquerque, NM- I received this from Anthony Landavazo who followed the McMullin Case in Albuquerque, courtesy of the Albuquerque Journal.  This is a story that I have blogged about for years now..  It's good to see that this man had to pay the price for his crimes.  Please don't forget that this guy operated his illegal company disguised as an Albuquerque Security company.  Many complaints were made about this illegally operating firm.   

An Albuquerque man on Monday morning was sentenced to 13-and-a-half years in prison for his part in a prostitution ring, the maximum sentence.

Bobby McMullin was convicted by an Albuquerque jury back in May of 15 charges associated with his operation of the Private Ice prostitution ring.

Officials say that the ring operated Websites that masqueraded as online escort services in order to pair prostitutes with customers.

McMullin’s attorney argued during the trial that McMullin had contracts with his escorts—or “contract employees,” as his attorney termed them—in which they pledged to do nothing illegal.

McMullin still faces a December trial on child pornography charges because officials say the some of the images on the Website were those of underage girls.

Two weeks ago, one of McMullin’s partners was sentenced to five years on probation after pleading guilty to the charges against him. Gary Hoppe was in charge of one of the three Private Ice Websites.

City Turns to Retired Officers for Help With Alarms

As a veteran of 20 years in the Albuquerque Police Department, I know firsthand the core function of local government is to provide for public safety through our police and fire departments. We all expect, and deserve this protection. 

Along the way, however, the public servants in our police and fire departments have been asked to take on many other roles. Our EMTs are often dispatched to help individuals who don't have insurance and who use EMTs and emergency rooms for their primary care needs. Our police officers are used by burglar alarm companies as first responders to alarm signals, even though more than 95 percent of the calls are false. 

These (uses) increase the costs of services to all taxpayers, and ...add stress to the uniformed personnel working hard to meet ever-increasing demands with limited resources. 

The city has decided to take an important step to solve at least one of these problems. Starting this month, police officers will not respond to burglar alarm calls at approximately 35 city facilities. A six-month trial program will use retired police officers employed by the Armed Response Team to respond to alarm signals at these city facilities. 

This innovative approach will benefit everyone involved. APD officers won't waste time responding to false alarms, saving an estimated 300-plus man hours. Police will be able to respond even faster to higher priority calls.... The city facilities will get faster response to their alarm signals because that's the Armed Response Team's only job. By getting to alarm calls fast, ART can deter break-ins and catch burglars when they trip the alarm. 

The taxpayers benefit because the city ...is able to contract alarm response to ART at a rate that is less than the cost of an APD officer to respond to city facilities. The former APD officers employed by ART benefit our community by continuing to use their 20-plus years of policing skills as a further crime deterrent. 

This pilot program is an example of city leadership finding ways to make our community safer, while saving taxpayer money at the same time. The only losers are crooks looking to steal from taxpayers and citizens.

Robb Hamic: "Security plan/ risk assessments in New Mexico. Every business needs one."

August 5, 2009- Albuquerque, NM-     Robb Hamic says, "If you are a business owner- you are flying blind without a good risk assessment and security plan no matter the size of your business."  If you invite people to your location, you are responsible in some way for their safety.  Employee security is also a big concern for New Mexico business.  In the event of lawsuit, you may pay the price if you don't have one.  Security companies are also responsible for providing a good plan for their clients.   

Security professionals have been struggling for years with the daunting task of designing operational procedures and protocols for their staff.  The challenge of security protocol design lies in adapting operational and business considerations, with legal constraints into one effective, threat oriented procedure. Unfortunately, security and threat mitigation are not always the first issues to contend with in the design process. In fact, liability issues and business objectives, while extremely important, may overshadow the threat mitigation needs of the organization; a situation that can produce a reactive and ultimately ineffective security procedures.  

This predicament dictates the design of a security procedures that includes the following: 

-          Highly articulated procedures that describe in detail: suspicion detection, threat         assessment and threat mitigation
-          A comprehensive decision making matrix that can accommodate liability constraints.   
-          Simple and easy-to-understand procedures that can be integrated smoothly into general operations.
-          Mitigation procedures that have both a deterrence effect and a customer service value. 

In order to design an effective threat oriented protocol we must first identify the aggressors’ capabilities, resources and methods of operation with regard to the specific environment being protected.  Simulating the aggressors and their method of operation will help to compile suspicion indicators as they are derived from each terrorist or criminal scenario and integrate them into the protocol.
